Our local Inn (circa 1749) is a short 5 minute walk away, the "Greenhouse" which has recently under gone a major internal refurbishment. It has a very popular restaurant and a large walled beer garden, be warned ..Thursday nights can be a little noisy as the local bellringers are at work in the church next door, before coming in to quench their thirst. The Inn has also seen turbulent times, as it was used as a meeting point for the Chartists, on their way to Newport in 1839 to what became a turning point in their history, this was known as the "Chartist uprising" and is depicted by a wonderfull Mural close to the Museum in Newport city centre.

Our local Indian takeaway "The Curry Box"  is a 5 minute stroll away - or they are happy to deliver. "The Curry Box" has been trading since 1963 and have half price main curry dishes on a Tuesday. Which are so popular, that some of our regular customers make sure that they bring their cool box, so that they can take some home for their families!  You are welcome to bring yours back to eat in our dining room.

A short stroll a little further along the road - "The Three Blackbirds" can be found - again just having had an internal refurbishment - it has a larger restaurant which is equally as popular, as are there guest real ales. From here you can view some of the surrounding hills including Twmbarlwm an Iron age fort which is located at the top of Cwmcarn scenic drive and mountain biking centre. Walk just a short distance along the road and you come to the Monmouth and Brecon canal which was used, to transport Iron and coal from the Valleys down to the docks in Newport - but is now a wonderful place to walk and get a feel for the landscape locally before stepping out a little further perhaps, following its route through some magnificent scenery.

There are a number of Inns and takeaways to suit most tastes and pockets near Springfields some are within walking distance and all takeaways will deliver to the door. Cwmbran town centre has a number of "Fast Food" Venues.

We are also close to a supermarket and a small parade of shops with a newsagent, post office, pharmacy hairdresser, barber, fish and chip shop, and a dentist!

We will be happy to advise you of our favourite hidden Inns (Which are mainly a little off the beaten track) and restaurants if you wish to venture further afield.
