We had a lovely day at Llandegfedd Reservoir a short 20 minute drive away and enjoyed a picnic and stunning views - in the sun. Before we headed to the Carpenters Arms (a fantastic village pub - famed for its food and beer) for a welcome pint - located near by in Coed y Paen.

Today we took our great nephew to Greenmeadow Community Farm a short 5 minute drive away and Ethan had a lovely time seeing the animals, a tractor ride and playing in the sand pit. Followed by an ice cream. We hope to get back for their Donkey day on the 24th August.

Our Friends - Scot and Ros visited us from London, for a break from the City. It did rain!! However, it didn't stop us from doing some retail therapy at Festival Park. We had an excellent Sunday lunch at The Star Inn, with its beautiful views over the Usk valley (a 15 minute drive from us).

We had a very welcome day off today, after our "Visit Wales" grading - we were very pleased to hear that we have once more been graded 3 Star and on the way to 4 Star and achieved our Walkers and Cyclists grading. We had lunch at the Wheatsheaf at Llanhennock (voted by the Daily Telegraph as one of the top 25 perfect pubs in the UK). All the food is home cooked, including the ice cream. (Mmmmm)!

We attended the Cordell Literary awards at Goytre Wharf on Sunday and enjoyed a very full day of music, dance, stalls and Cordell history - plus a lovely day next to the canal with all its boats (some steam),

We met our freinds Des & Carol who had travelled down from Lichfield to stay with us for the weekend in Abergavenny for the Abergavenny Food Festival. It took us 20 minutes to drive to the car parking in Castle meadows and a five minute walk into the town centre. The weather was kind to us and with the amazing backdrop of the Blorenge, Sugarloaf and Skirrid mountains it added to the amazing spectacle of sight, sound and of course wonderful smells and tastes, the diversity of local food and wine on offer along with the cookery demonstrations made our mouths water and we sampled many of the goodies on offer and all came home with our favourite cheese, cakes, wines, and rare breed meats.  In fact a great day was had by all, next year we intend to stay for the musical event in the castle grounds on saturday evening.

A funny weekend - We had a silver wedding party stay on Sunday, that had previously stayed on their relatives wedding day at Springfields 25 years ago! - Theresa's Mum made a flower arrangement for them from the button holes.

Also, we had a party that had researched their family history, just a stones throw away at the Gwent records office and subsequently met his two lost brothers of 60 years. We regularly get guests that are researching their family tree. We have even had an elderly gentleman - who met his lost sister of 70 years, in our lounge for the first time.

We went out for the day , to celebrate Theresa's birthday. We spent a few hours looking around Abergavenny Flea Market which is held in the market hall every wednesday and bougnt some fun things for the house, then into the market town of Crickhowell for a mooch around their ecclectic mix of shops, popped into "Gallop and Rivers" our favourite Architectral antiques venue followed by a perfect lunch at the Nantyffin Cider Mill Inn near Bwlch. We then drove across the Mountains taking in the breathtaking scenery of the Black Mountains and the Brecon Beacons on the way to Ebbw Vale to see some friends and pop into Festival Park shopping to see if we could find a bargain before driving home to see some customers in. A lovely day, we do enjoy our peice of Wales!

Another celebration at "Springfields"! On Friday 21st November we were married at Pontypool Registry Office which is a Grade two listed building owned by Cadw.  A very quiet affair but a glorious day. Theresa chose a Welsh Gold Wedding Ring with a Celtic design. Our friends from London were our wittness's, Trevor who hails from Brighton was quite exited as he had always wanted to get married in a foreign country!!! (The Marriage certificate was bilingual) We "Honeymooned" at "Springfeilds" for the weekend as we are as ever very busy with our customers.
