Well its the start of 2011 and the snow has gone - We are busy spring cleaning the house and getting ready for the coming year and welcoming new guests.

It was Elvis's birthday on the 8th January and we are big fans and enjoy as many tribute artists as possible.

We sent out our first newsletter of the year and have received a lot of emails from old friends. Our current special offer has encouraged bookings well into the summer.

We had a birthday today - Brian has been staying with us Monday to Friday for a year, working at Arvinmeritor. The record still stands with Mr Nichols staying six years Monday to Friday.

Colin Fielding (the great grandson of John Fielding - Rorkes Drift Hero) a regular guest at Springfields - on this visit he decided to wear his great grandfathers Victoria Cross with uniform and have some photos taken at the church.

The weather has been glorious and the spring flowers were a real show. We continue to upgrade Springfields -with a new carpet in the dining room and some fantastic new luxury towels from Bursalli towels (who supply all the best health spas !!)

We are having a very busy summer here at "Springfields" with lots of Interesting Guests from around the world, some who have come to see family or do research on their ancestors, some who come just to travel on the local rail networks or by Bycycle to try to discover the routes of the railways that were used during the Industrial Revolution to haul Iron and Coal once ponies and people were made redundant, he always meets a chatty dog walker or fellow cyclist who is happy to chat about the past as they remember it.

We are expecting "Elvis" again this weekend so I can't stop Trevor from singing, especially as some of our guests very kindly bought us a gift of a "Rock & Rolling Elvis Duck" for the bath!!!

The Newest edition to the local wildlife we have named "Merlin" he is a young Buzzard and spends his days either in a tree next door or sitting on a fence post in the field accross the road screeching, he is beautiful.

Jack and Larry our dogs are slowing down just a little now, until we pick their leads up to take them accross the feilds!!

Apart from running "Springfields" we like to try and do a little charity work.  Theresa is on the fundraising committee for Society for the Welfare of Horses and Ponies which is a charity based in Monmouth which Rescues, Rehabilitates and Rehomes horses and ponies that have been subject to neglect or abuse.  We held a "Tea Party" on September 3rd for them and raised just over £200 which will help with this winters feed bill. Thank you to all who came or donated cakes or gifts.

Today we were lucky enough to have a bevvy of beatiful young ladies staying who were competing in a beauty pageant.  They were all winners but Rachel Tate pictured on the right was voted "The Face of Wales" while Leah seated on the left came 4th.

We have now got a facebook page, so if you LIKE you are welcome to join us and see what we are up to.
